Food & Drink

Side Oven Bakery
Driffield-based Side Oven Bakery entered the awards for the first time – and came away with two gold medals for its organic breads.   Caroline Sellers has been running the Side Oven Bakery for just two years, taking it from kitchen table (or kitchen oven, to be more precise) to a major enterprise, with a bakery, complete with purpose-built wood-burning oven.

Sloe Gin
For those yet to discover the illusive tang of the sloe a real pleasure awaits. Our traditionally made liqueurs are quite unlike their 'base' spirits; they are smooth textured, soul comforting and illusive on the palate. Some taste notes of plum, whilst others detect wild cherry and even almond.

Gardening and Garden Plants

Mount Pleasant Plants
Mount Pleasant Plants is a small, family run nursery, growing herbaceous perennials in the foothills of the Yorkshire Wolds. The nursery field is quite exposed so we cover the plants with a green netting in the winter, to save them from being blown away! It does however mean that the plants are hardy. Propagation takes place on the nursery throughout the year, so not all the plants will be available for sale at any one time.
